Announcements November 19, 2017

Today is In-Gathering Sunday – Thank you for bringing Thanksgiving canned or boxed goods to share in worship.  Thank you also to Beryl Fisher and the youth for providing the setting for our shared food.

Women’s Fellowship Bazaar and Auction – The Women’s Fellowship would like to thank all who made this event such a success!

Welcome to our Guest Speakers Today.  We welcome Rev. Jean Doane and Marcia Gilliland, who were the speakers at the CPC Women’s Retreat this fall.

Rev. Jean Doane will be bringing today’s sermon, speaking about the Christian church in Bethlehem, and the work at the Palestinian YWCA there. Jean is an ordained UCC minister whose passions include Global Ministry and adult spiritual formation.  She has just begun her second six year term on the national Common Global Missions Board and serves on the conference Wider Church Ministries Team and the CPC-Palestine Israel Network working group of WCM.  She is an experienced worship leader and teacher of prayer, meditation, and Compassionate Communication.

Marcia Gilliland will be showing us some photos about her recent work there following worship during coffee hour.  She is a retired teacher and a fabric artist who has made several trips to the West Bank to work with the YWCA of Palestine on design and marketing of products incorporating traditional Palestinian embroidery.  Marcia also serves on the CPC Wider Church Ministries Team and Palestine-Israel Network.

Adult Education today is “Giving Thanks” and November 26th will be “Mystery.”

Stitch Club Invitation – Today is the last day to order items from the SERRV catalog.  Items ordered today will arrive before Christmas, and payment is not collected until the order arrives.

Coffee and Friends:  Coffee and Friends meets each 2nd and 4th Tuesday, from 2-3:30 pm in Pastor Deb’s office

Mission Needs —

Stitch Club Challenge:  Molalla Service Center needs at least 2 more volunteers.  The only requirement was that it involves being on your feet for about 5 hours.  Thank you for considering this volunteer request.  Please bring holiday-type foods to share through December:  canned pumpkin and cranberries, stuffing mix, red and green jello, cornbread mix, cake mixes, and items that would make a nice holiday dinner.  Thank you for your generosity!

Filling the Ark:  Thank you to all who have helped with this life-transforming project.  Check out the table to see the wonderful animals available for purchase, and continue to save your change.  Thank you!

Tableware collection —  There is new box in the hallway near the rest-rooms for donated new or gently used household goods/tableware for the Community Warehouse.  Kristin Wishon will be collecting through the end of November for delivery.
