PGE / Smyrna Solar Array Project

Portland General Electric chose Smyrna to be one of nine nonprofit organizations in PGE’s territory to receive grants for renewable energy projects. The Smyrna UCC EarthCare Committee has worked on this project for over two years with the able assistance of Energy Solutions of Oregon City.

We will be able to sell back the energy we produce, and that money will be more than enough to cover our monthly bills.  We have also  developed  a plan for educating the community about the methods and benefits of going renewable.

We have had to postpone our Ribbon Cutting/Dedication Service until a later date because of the COVID virus emergency. We will plan to have it as soon as it is prudent and safe.

This 13.68 kilowatt project was made possible by a Renewable Development Fund award from Portland General Electric and a grant from the Energy Trust of Oregon.   Since 1999, customers of Portland General Electric have supported clean energy by participating in the Green Future℠ renewable power program. To date, PGE Green Future customers have helped fund more than 14.5 Megawatts of new, local renewable energy generation.
